buenos aires: tigre and teatro colon

That Sunday we took a day trip to a river town about 40 minutes outside of BA called Tigre. We took a river boat tour of the town for about two hours. Many of the houses can only be reached by boat. They have a grocery boat, a mail boat, and instead of a school bus, they have a school boat. It is a very laid back, easy-going lifestyle. Instead of addresses with numbers, all of the houses just have names like El Paradiso, or El Castillo.

Below is the grocery boat.

The biggest amusement park in Argentina is also located in Tigre... not very big is it?

Tigre has a lot of sports clubs, both public and private, where people can rent jet skis, kayaks, etc. There are also a few artificial beaches. The river water is sooo brown, I wasn't really trying to jump in it, but apparently it is safe to swim in. The brown is just the natural color of the sediment. I still passed on that opportunity.

Ryan got a little sleepy on the tour.

It was probably 105 degrees the whole day.

The next day Ashley and I decided to be cultural and visit the city's opera house, Teatro Colon, pictured below.

It was really pretty and I really liked the stained glass. Apparently it is a very popular and world-renowned opera house... I have nothing to compare it to, but it was pretty! I also know absolutely nothing about opera so I probably understood 5% of the tour.
